Sindy Zemura

Chief Executive Officer

Sindy is an award-winning humanitarian, social entrepreneur and pioneer, focused on empowering marginalized women, girls and youth. She has 15years experience as an accountant and more than 12 years in the Non-Profit / International Development sector. She studied Business Management, Social Work and Political Science at graduate level. A seasoned executive leader, Sindy is a specialist on gender equality, youth empowerment, ending gender-based violence, women peace and security, HIV awareness, poverty alleviation and SDGs.

In addition to her work with the SAE Foundation, she served at the Inaugural African Union Office of the Youth Envoy as Special Advisor and Team Lead – Intergenerational Dialogues Action Plan. Her voluntary work is expansional, being  a member of and serving in several boards and networks such as  UN Women / AU (African Women Leaders Network), The Boardroom Africa (TBR), STOP TB Partnership, UNMGCY (United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth), Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWach), Ntethelo Foundation, Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR), IAS (International ADIS Society), Education Cannotwait, Global AIDS Alliance, CIVICUS, NGO CSW NY, EWEC (Every Woman, Every Child), VOW (Canadian Voice of Women for Peace), WIIS (Women in International Peace and Security) to name a few.

A seasoned events moderator and public speaker, Sindy’s passion for the security and empowerment of vulnerable persons has awarded her opportunities to be involved in global events for over a decade at the United Nations, African Union, High Level global events as well as speak amongst and before diplomats, celebrities and dignitaries. Amongst many of her recognitions, she has been nominated as MIPAD’s (Most Influential People of African Descent) 100 under 40 Influencers for 2017, Canada’s TOP 40 Immigrants 2018, Women of Influence Finalist 2018, Top 100 Canadian Black women leaders 2018, received recognition from the Duke of Sussex in 2018 for advancing HIV Awareness and youth empowerment, North America 2019 Global Business Award by the African Powerful Partnership Awards at CSW-UN and was named one of the 2019 ‘ The Young Independents Top 100’ – Africans influencing policy, brands and people.
